Renovation by Habitat
This blog thread posted by the Irving Inquisition uses some explicit language, as well as depicting some aspects of life in North Minneapolis that some readers may find objectionable. Reader discretion is advised.
Renovation by Habitat
I’m pleased to see that Habitat for Humanity is working on the 2200 Irving house. You may recall this particular property was an arson house on Skid Row. Not anymore. Most of Skid Row has been demolished, and this house is undergoing extensive renovations.
The old roof has been removed.
The other day they removed the roof and replaced it with a new one. Peering inside from a distance, it’s obvious they gutted the property down to the studs. This of course makes sense, considering what this property has been through.
You can see where the fire was; work in progress.
It’s truly exciting to see work like this going on. This house should be ready by the summer for a new family to purchase it.
A lot happening here.

That ugly box should have been torn down. I can't wait to see what "family" will get this piece of crap! Where is the garage? At least they could have put in a tuck under while the work was going on!
I think if work has already begun, then a family has been identified as the purchaser too. Once the work is complete, they'll close on the loan and the family will move in.
Also I.I., may I recommend volunteering at that site once Habitat is ready for crews? I've volunteered at Habitat houses before and it's incredibly fulfilling to know you're helping a family find a home AND making your own community that much stronger.
@ Anon 8:32,
Nice attitude you got there. It's about as refreshing as spoiled milk. The garage is behind the house.
Sorry - I could not see it from the picture. I was afraid it was another former "dream home"
good choose of house to be build. it was a nice and lovely house, whoever will be living there will surely be at ease.
