Things Worth Saving

Things Worth Saving
For this post, I actually don’t have much to say. This is more of a stop and smell the roses posting.
A friend of mine invited me over to show me their NoMi home they have been rehabbing. Things like solid oak doors and built-in buffets always touch me in a certain way. It makes me wonder why new construction rarely incorporates such tasteful craftsmanship.
Here are some lovely old home photos for your viewing pleasure…
My favorite part of a Minneapolis home, the buffet.
A cozy spot to read or take a nap.
This is a sliding door, truly amazing!
I've never seen a bathtub like this one before.
Buffet #2; note the cavalier stacking of the stemware. Very nice.

Your pictures beg the comment... "they just don't make 'em like they used to" I'm currently (for the last three years) rehabbing a house built in 1900. I have similar treasures that are now covered with dust. This gives me hope that someday they will be shiny and (like)new.
Love these pics.
it's all so gorgeous....that door...wow.
Very Nice...
Call me silly...but one of my favorite time wasting activities is to page through the multiple listings and look at interior shots of these older homes.
There are some real jewels out there for buyers with a bit of foresight and energy.
Unfortunately, many equally beautiful homes that could have been restored have been destroyed.
is this home on Emerson? The details look so familiar to me- it looks like a house that my boss sold last year, I almost fainted at the pocket doors...
Miss Molly M,
You're very close, it's actually a street over on Dupont. Aren't those pocket doors just the coolest thing? It's like going back in time to the 19th century.
