Mo' Better Blues

This blog thread posted by the Irving Inquisition uses some explicit language, as well as depicting some aspects of life in North Minneapolis that some readers may find objectionable.  Reader discretion is advised.

Mo' Better Blues

Out the window goes the idea of opening a restaurant here in NoMi.  Dipping my toe into that icy water stirred up conversations that had a predilection for irrelevancy.  One person suggested going to existing restaurants and gave a laundry list.  Problem with that is, most of those restaurants suck or they’re too far from the main drag, or they’re rarely open.  Another person was saying something about not hiring NoMi residents because they’re rude.  And then another person said something about how that’s wrong and then went in on some bus riding escapade.  Then somebody else chimed in about pick-pockets on the bus… The whole conversation went completely off track like an LRT meeting at UROC.  Not that I’m really all that surprised.  Blog readers are even more fickle than restaurant customers; although people will generally take eating over blogging.  Back to the point; sure a restaurant that serves good food on Broadway would be great.  I’m just not going to be the one opening it.  There’s got to be something else to do…

A person needs new experiences.  This blogger is no exception to that mantra.  Fireside conversations that went late into the night frequently drifted to the subject of me wanting to learn how to play the trumpet.  Blues and Jazz played on a trumpet seem to just strike me right there—pointing at my heart—and want to partake in the music making myself.  So I went out and bought a trumpet.

This is a Yamaha student model, newly used.  Isn't she pretty?

I’ve got all the gear to get started.  I’m working on getting familiar with the instrument, and relearning how to read music.  This is going to be a shit load of work, but it will pay off in the end and help to pass the hours of 2011’s frigid winter.

Anybody know a good trumpet teacher out there?  I need lessons.

"Yeah, I can't wait to frequent a restaurant run by that Irving Inquisition asshole. The negativity he emits was not enough online so I decided I should go in person to get the full effect."
