Meet Theresa N. Yzaguirre: Nuisance Tabloid Writer and Property Tax Evader

This blog thread posted by the Irving Inquisition uses some explicit language, as well as depicting some aspects of life in North Minneapolis that some readers may find objectionable.  Reader discretion is advised.

Meet Theresa N. Yzaguirre: Nuisance Tabloid Writer and Property Tax Evader

Theresa N. Yzaguirre = Minneapolis Mirror = Jordan Hawkman

Theresa Yzaguirre, known generally as Terry Yzaguirre to everyone else, is an interesting person.  She’s a resident and home owner in South Minneapolis, and a blogger.  Her blog, the Minneapolis Mirror, is known for its contrary positions on political subjects in the city.

Due to the lop-sided and contrary views Yzaguirre appears to have adopted on pretty much every subject pertaining to NoMi, her blog has become a repository of bad information and a haven for urban blight apologists.

Yzaguirre had the dubious honor of being named the first Jerk Du Jour on this blog.  That was due to her tactless and erroneously presented information of volunteers in my neighborhood.  She had concluded that the integrity of neighborhood board volunteers was in question because their property values had dropped.  The logic of such a conclusion is highly flawed at best, but it had been presented as if it were an undeniable truth.

Sporting a contrary blog is but only one facet of Yzaguirre’s activities.  She spends time side-kicking for her friend, Donald W.R. Allen II.  He plays reporter and she plays camera-lady.  Together, they take pictures and videos of people and post them up on the internet for all to see in an attempt to embarrass and intimidate.  Multitudes of these shenanigans can be observed on the Broken Mirror.

Just like her friend, Don Allen, Terry Yzaguirre publishes blog posts littered with a cornucopia of spelling and grammatical errors.  And just like her friend, Don Allen, she also writes for the Jordan Hawkman blog.  If one were to compare several Jordan Hawkman blog posts to several Mirror posts, the writing style that boasts unartful use of the English language can be observed in unison.  Furthermore, I can vouch for this through my own experience on the occasions when I encountered Yzaguirre.

One day, Terry invited herself to the annual meeting for the Jordan neighborhood.  She stood there, took pictures, glared at me and my friends, and then left.  Like clock-work, the very next day, my picture was on Terry’s Jordan Hawkman blog site; along with statements suggesting some sort of impending doom to my home neighborhood along with derogatory comments about me personally.

Panther eyes are the Jordan Hawkman logo; Terry Yzaguirre is the Jordan Hawkman.

Since that time, Yzaguirre has used the Jordan Hawkman blog to publish erroneous and defamatory statements on what seems to be at least a dozen decent and respectable NoMi residents.  These residents never deserved to be treated that way, but that never stopped Terry Yzaguirre from spouting off some random conspiracy.  The most recent indiscretion from Yzaguirre comes in the form of traditional contrary publishings on her Mirror blog.  Twice in the past month, Yzaguirre’s mirror went to bat for notorious slumlord emperor, Steven Meldahl.  On the first posting she took a supportive position on absentee landlords, and supported Meldahl on his claims pertaining to his property tax responsibility.  The second posting was written by one of Steven Meldahl’s apologist buddies.  Essentially it labeled me and the rest of us that are active in holding investment property owners to account, as being members of “the lost generation”, which simply isn’t true; and inferred that we were jealous of Meldahl’s financial success at being a slumlord.

If you are a NoMi resident, you are most likely already aware of Terry Yzaguirre’s exploits.  Yet there is something everyone should know about Ms. Yzaguirre.  Next time she blogs on Minneapolis Mirror or Jordan Hawkman, and suggests that there’s some sort of nefarious conspiracy in North Minneapolis, or talks about somebody’s financial situation, or makes deprecating comments about somebody’s appearance; keep this in mind…

In 2010, Terry Yzaguirre’s total property tax liability for her house located at 3539 12th Avenue South was $2,334.68.  She paid $0 towards that obligation.  In 2009 Terry Yzaguirre’s total property tax liability for the same property was $2,503.66.  She paid $0 towards that obligation.  Those two sums of money when added with assessed penalties for non-payment comes to a grand total of $5,675.15 of past due property taxes.  Don’t believe me?  No problem, click HERE.  This show’s that Yzaguirre has delinquent property taxes from previous years.  It doesn’t say how much, but there’s a phone number to call for inquiries.  Out of a sense of morbid curiosity, I made the call and asked about the total liability.  This is public information; I didn’t have to jump through any hoops to get it.  The county employee on the other side of the phone will give any caller the information if asked.

The takeaway here is simple; Terry Yzaguirre’s behavior is that of a rebel without a cause.  It makes sense to a degree that she partners with slumlords on the subjects of urban blight and property tax evasion, as she’s partaking in perpetuating those very issues herself.

Just thinking out loud here; perhaps Ms. Yzaguirre could focus her energies on becoming an active neighbor in Powderhorn where she lives?  I know it’s a nice neighborhood, but I’m sure it isn’t perfect, and they could use someone that can offer alternative opinions to help prevent group think.  That’s an option.  Or maybe working towards paying down that property tax debt?  I know nobody likes paying taxes, but it is the law, there’s no choice in the matter.  It’s either that or lose the house to property tax forfeiture… just say’n.  Suffice it to say, Terry Yzaguirre has enough on her domestic plate.  Until she takes care of business on the home front, she really should stay out of other people’s issues on the other side of town.

Ultimately, I feel I must take the blame for such low discourse. In my professorial days, I taught Ms. Yzaguirre in the rather esoteric school of Hermetic philosophical thinking, which can best be described in the Routledge Encyclopedia of Philosophy:

"The purpose of the Hermetist teacher - and the treatises tend to be stylized as lessons in a course of ever more esoteric instruction - is to generate an intuitive knowledge...vouchsafed to a very few...in answer to the perennial question, 'Who am I? What am I here for?'

"In this context, doctrinal consistency and lucid theory are minor considerations. There are numerous contradictions among the treatises. One text (Plato) admits as much."

In retrospect, as a zealous teacher I overestimated young Ms. Yzaguirre's readiness for such non-linear thinking and as a result an unprepared mind took dislocated illogic to its inevitable extreme. I.I., you have uncovered perhaps the most blatant example of my errant student (for whom, I emphasize, I take responsibility) in that she antagonizes fellow bloggers for the very same fault that she herself possesses.

Had I foreseen this chain of events, I would have stopped after the basics of Descartes and Kant, and not even ventured into the initial teachings of John Stuart Mill.

I don't know what Terry Yzaguirre and Don Allen are trying to prove. Neither of them live in North Mpls yet they continue to blog like idiots attacking NoMi citizens who actually live in North Mpls and devote time and effort to strengthening the community. These two obviously have too much time on their hands and should seriously get lives.

People who don't pay their property taxes or child support are real low lifes who need to be called out for the losers they are.

Thanks II for highlighting these dead beats. Keep up the good work.

Arrrgh,
Principal Rooney, the crew be wetting themselves all over me freshly washed deck with laughter!
Aye mate "I think there for I am", it doesn't mean I think there for I be right! There be principles in life as there be principles at sea get to reckless with at sea and you be a wayward sailor on the rocks, the same be said for life. Now, don't be critiquing the Captain's grammar!

Again, better have a really good attorney Eric. After John's trial is over you're next.

To Anon 6:10. Are you refering to John Hoff?? He owes back taxes and fights over $50 per month in child support. If that is not the definition of a loser, what is?????

Anonymous said...

@Anon 11:25pm, why wait? If you think you have such good legal standing move swiftly.

Anonymous said...

At least Terry Yzaguirre works for a living, John Hoff lives off his government charity check and blogging.

Anonymous said...

Terry works? Last I heard she was unemployed.

Arrrgh,
12:54 PM anon: Mate, you be saying those in the service of the National Guard serving either here or in battle be charity cases? Or you be saying you are clueless as to what you be saying? At sea we be calling it blubbering ignorance!

@ 11:25,

Is that all you got, threats to sue me? How are you going to convince a lawyer to take your case?

Not a threat, it's a promise.

He who laughs last, laughs best.
I will be standing in your face, in court, and laughing :-) ;-)

Oh, and Capt. Barbasol: Hoff ain't in the National Guard. He washed out. He lives off a VA disability check.

The I.I. said...

@ Anon 1:53,

Maybe you should hold off on the laughter. Even if there was a court case, you still have to win. In order to win, you have to have a case that's winnable. So good luck with that.

As for your comment directed at the Captain, Hoff actually is in the National Guard.

Go find something else to do with your time, you're behaving childishly. You're dismissed.

My word, Terry looks like Andy Warhol's equally drug-addled sister.

damn, bitch looks like shes on crack

You can always tell a coke whore by the thinness of the face. You can take one look at Terry and tell she's bad into something, or something is bad into her, and whatever it is, it's having or has had a physical impact on her body.

So here's this skanky, coke-whore looking bitch, and she's all the time going after the decent people in the neighborhood and turns out she doesn't even pay her own taxes!

Eric, can you publish more pictures of her? I just love the creepy chills that go up my spine when I look at her skeletal face.

Please provide evidence that TY has a criminal history. I search the court records and I can't find it.

My mom used to say, "there is a woman who has seen thousands of miles of road, and it is written all over her face." Basically, Terry has lived hard and fast. It is well known that her and Jill Clark are friends from AA/NA. Both are recovering addicts. Seems like Jill has replaced one addiction with another: frivilous lawsuits, and Terry, well she is a hyprocryte. She writes about John's deliquent taxes, yet she is FURTHER behind. What a joke. Oh yeah and Terry was chased out of Powderhorn Park after her racist comments to some Hispanic kids who wanted to set-up a soccer league there!

Anonymous said...

Does anybody have a link to the story Terry wrote about how she thought Hispanics would bring crime to her neighborhood? I saw a hard copy once and I know who has one, but it would be great if it could just be linked.

As for John's Hoff's taxes...

Terry is literally TEN TIMES FURTHER BEHIND THAN JOHN. John owes, like, a bit over $500 and Terry owes a bit over $5,000.

Can anybody provide Terry's social security number and birthdate so a real records check can be performed to dig up whatever hardcore druggie past is merely shadowed on that awful-looking face of hers? Don't post it publicly...that just wouldn't be nice, even though these revitalization-hating trolls like Terry are NOT NICE.

But there are people who need that info. Everybody knows who those folks are who need it.

I personally think attacking TY's looks is uncalled for. Same as some other bloggers making dumb-ass cracks about the looks of people. It's not relevant to the big picture. She's got enough crap to expose her ignorance and poor judgement. Let's just leave the junior high cracks about someone's looks out of it, Mmmmk?

The I.I. said...

@ northsider55,

Believe it or not, I'm inclined to agree. I'm not exactly a gem to the eyes myself, so you won't see me making comments about appearance. It should be noted however, that Terry throws around inappropriate comments about peoples' appearances herself. It's sort of like what goes around comes around.

Still waiting for someone to post Terry's criminal history....anyone....let's see proof that she has a conviction or even was charged.

Eric James Yzaguirre, age 21, lists "mom's house" at 3539 12th Ave. S. as his residence, arrested November 1 and charged with multiple counts related to domestic violence, released the next day according to jailhouse roster.

And, oh yeah, his mom's house still has taxes due.

I needed your article to link to and had some difficulty finding it. Your search function on this site doesn't work very well--unfortunately, that's not your problem alone, that's a widespread issue--but when I tried a Google search using "Yzaguirre" and "tabloid," I turned up a link but it went to the old irvinginquisition url instead of your new THE Irving Inquisition URL.

I had to come here and go back in time, chronologically, to find it. Glad for once you're not as prolific as me.

Anyway, I'm going to be writing about this today or in the next few days, but I thought I'd put the comment up here, first, because you did fine work writing about Yzaguirre and I thought it would be nice to let your blog break the story in comments.

I would agree this comment of Anonymous "Still waiting for someone to post Terry's criminal history....anyone....let's see proof that she has a conviction or even was charged". Looking forward to read post like property issues.

The problem with the blog community is everybody can post about anything without verifying first the facts. Some bloggers also deliberately mislead their readers for whatever purpose that they have. I still think Terry Yzaguirre owes her readers an explanation about these allegations.
