Fire on the 2700 Block of Knox Avenue North
This blog thread posted by the Irving Inquisition uses some explicit language, as well as depicting some aspects of life in North Minneapolis that some readers may find objectionable. Reader discretion is advised.
Fire on the 2700 Block of Knox Avenue North
NoMi is in many ways is essentially a small town these days. Everybody knows where everybody else lives, what they do, and their business. It’s fairly easy to drive down a block and say; “Such n’ such lives here…”, “The person that lives in this house owns x-y-z business…”, “The dude in that house is an ex-con but seems to be keeping his nose clean…”, “See that house there? Stay away from the person that lives there, they’ll take anything personal you say about yourself and then diss you behind your back in e-mail…” etc etc.
Bearing the fore mentioned in mind; this blogger noticed flashing emergency lights on the way home this evening. There were two large fire engines and a detail of smaller utility and support vehicles on site. Curiosity drew me in like insects to light bulbs. I was concerned because I know several people on this street, including the bean counter from the NoMi bingo league. Fortunately, the bean counter’s house appeared to be outside the action circle. I couldn’t get close enough to be able to tell about the others; I don’t know which house was on fire and I’m still concerned.
| About a block away, heading south on Knox. |
| Facing north on Knox; fire source is unknown at this time. |
I called fire house 14—the closest station—to see what I could find out. Unfortunately everybody was handling that particular situation at the time so no details were available; will have to check back tomorrow.
My hope is that nobody was in the house or injured in this evening’s fire. Irving Inquisition will publish a follow-up posting as information becomes available.

I always stay away from Bryant Ave for the email reason. Lessons learned.
Yep good neighbor up the block, been there since the early 90's this is a sad affair.
