Slumlord, Steven Meldahl’s Unpaid Municipal Fines
After concluding my research on the state of Meldahl’s property taxes, I decided to look more closely at how he responds to the city when his tenants mistreat their rentals and the neighborhood. Meldahl’s financial behavior where taking responsibility for municipal fines that have been rightfully assessed, is much worse than originally expected.

This is an Irving Inquisition exclusive; digging deeper into Meldahl’s real estate situation has revealed some startling statistics. Of the 80 known properties Meldahl owns within city limits, 34 of them were purchased out right after the mortgage crisis ensued. While I can't blame Meldahl's enterprising attitude to seize opportunities to buy cheap real estate, I can blame him quite easily for the fact that he was and is neglecting his other properties while going on a property acquisition spree.
Indeed, Meldahl owes all kinds of fines dating back to 1992. I was only in junior high school while this man was working to perfect his art of slumcraft. Most of the properties Meldahl has a clean history with are the ones he just purchased, as for the rest, they're tainted by irresponsibility and laziness.
As of today, Meldahl owes a combined total of unpaid municipal fines totaling about $133,000. Three of Meldahl's properties are in a state of license review, and one property he's renting out he doesn't even have a rental license for!
A minor glitch in the document below isn't showing the full header. Next to 2009/10 fines are prior years fines, next to that are the total unpaid fines summed up, and additional comments on the end. "AR Signed" means that Meldahl assumed responsibility of the R&R's on that specified date. Simply put, he bought the house. Please read the spreadsheet below for specifics.
