Lamenting Lowry
This blog thread posted by the Irving Inquisition uses some explicit language, as well as depicting some aspects of life in North Minneapolis that some readers may find objectionable. Reader discretion is advised.
1st Up: The New Target Zone
I went out to lunch with a friend to Tootie’s on Lowry the other day. After lunch we decided to walk over to Lowry and Penn and do some window shopping.
The walk to the store and back to the car proved to be a sobering experience to say the least. Blighted properties littered the landscape. Garbage and dilapidation were everywhere.
Here we have an obvious case of absentee landlords and an equally obvious case of apathetic tenants.
While walking down the street and past alleys, my wondering eyes spotted this trash-pocolypse of junk and garbage lying around. It was everywhere.
Take a peek at 3121 Queen. Note the ghetto parking job on the grass. Obviously the garage is out. If you’ve got a 10 foot Elm tree growing out of the concrete, blocking the garage doors, it’s pretty clear nobody is going to be parking that way.
Jerk Du Jour: Phone Book People
On the way back we walked past the boarded up Ghetto America, and what do I see?...
Phone books deposited in front of a boarded up business? Seriously, how is that any different from littering?
These guys are on a mission to deliver as many books as possible. It doesn’t matter that there’s no legitimate inhabitants of said property in sight. Got boarded up windows? No problem; Dex and Yellowbook deliver to your door step, or any door step for that matter, regardless of rain, sleet, or snow.
I know Johnny Northside has been talking about these things for years, but still… Somebody actually was paid to put phonebooks in front of a boarded up SA. What the fuck?
Phonebook people… Today’s Jerk Du Jour.

I don't know who told you that Lowry and Thomas is U-WHO but whoever they are, they are wrong. It's Jordan. Ever heard of that neighborhood?
I really don't mean to be pedantic, but Thomas & Lowry is on the border between Jordan and Cleveland. Willard-Homewood is a few blocks south of there (south of Broadway).
I stand corrected. Woops, sorry about that. I went ahead and made the correction on the posting there. Yes, Thomas and Lowry on the southern side of the street is Jordan.
Thank you! :)
If you idiots wouldn't spend all your time trying to get convenience stores and other centers of commerce shut down maybe the neighborhood wouldn't be abandoned.
I.I., if you truly want your blog to be successful, then I recommend you imitate the Jordan Hawkman Group. When you make an easily-verifiable error, and it gets pointed out, here is the appropriate response:
"The Irving Inquisition blog is happy to go back and correct any mistakes that might appear here. If anyone can provide irrefutable evidence of what area the Thomas and Lowry intersection is in, we will make the appropriate change immediately. Until that happens, one should ask what the REAL REASON an anonymous commenter questions the infallible wisdom of this blog. What is their motivation and why are they anonymous? Who are they? Their sinister connections to a certain city council member will be revealed IN THE VERY NEXT POST."
Oh, and you should add more typos while proclaiming your perfection - if you love irony, that is.
Ahhh, I grew up on that street. That SA was a 7/11 and the hookers were like wild animals
Jeff I didn't know you spent so much time reading those nasty blogs. Was it during work hours?
To Anon 11:11,
This posting was on a Saturday you moron.
Anon859 If you paid any attention to Lowry you'd know that the intersection with Penn (near where II was) is a rapidly developing node. In addition to North End, Aldi, Subway, etc, there is a new gift shop (Goddess of Glass) and a cafe about to open.
Anon 11:11, I'll add: 9:25 PM, as in on a Saturday NIGHT. Oh, and I happened to be in Madison, WI at the time.
